Dairy Queen Diaries.

This will hopefully be the first installment of many where I share with you what I have observed on my boring work breaks. Where I work we don't have a break room or even a sitting area. So we get to either sit in our cars or with the customers, it's a lose lose situation. I have chosen for the most part to sit in the corner and out of everyone's way. But every once in a while customers will be sitting right next to me and I get to enjoy their personal conversations. Well not really enjoy, but they are loud so they all drown out my thoughts and this is the predicament I have been placed into. For this first installment I decided that I would share with you my observations. But more than that I want to teach myself to take this time and pay attention to those around me, their needs, their wants, their hurts, their lives. I want to learn from strangers and care about them from afar. So here it goes, this was on September 18th around 6:20 pm, reporting from the back corner table...

As I sit here on my break this evening I have the pleasure of getting to see grandparents raising their grandchildren. And to be honest I feel as if I have been seeing this situation pretty often lately. All I can think about is how they are some of the greatest warriors I've ever witnessed. Not that I've ever raised a child myself, but from what I can tell it is one of the greatest wonders and trials a person can face. And to watch these folks who have already done their share of the raising business and now they face this predicament again at an older age. I've even witnessed this situation in my own extended family. And I truly believe these kind and caring souls have a special place in the new Heaven for all of their selfless duties. I write this tonight so we can all take more time and notice those around us, and I hope that we can witness this selflessness and send up a prayer for these individuals that through all of their hard work one day their will be peace. And not only that but today they are changing these children's lives, they are giving them hope and a chance that they wouldn't have otherwise.

I plan to spend more of my time watching others and loving them from afar. And I hope that you can do the same so that we may become a bright positive light in this world, to make the most beautiful impact and show other's the love that has been so graciously given to us.
